Anushree Mehta started her journey by writing for crime shows like ‘Savdhaan India’, ‘CID’, ‘Encounter’, etc. She then turned producer and now she has donned the director’s hat by helming an interesting short film ‘Unkahee’ for the OTT platform Eros Now. The film is releasing on September 26. The film stars Hiten Tejwani, Sehban Azim, Anupriya Goenka, Ashwin Mushran, Ayushmaan Saxena, Ravi Khemu, and Ashoke Pandit among others.
We recently had a conversation with the captain of the ship, Anushree and asked her why she is attracted to this genre of the crime thriller and write only thrillers. To which she said, “It happened by chance that I got to write crime on television. It was not planned. I can and do write in all genres. It depends on the mental and emotional state and what story you want to tell at that point of writing. Having said that spy, thriller, crime speak to me a lot more because I am an avid reader of Agatha Christie, Erle Stanley Gardner. I have grown up on these books and thriller films. But I am also a fan of romances and other genres.”
When asked if she had faced any challenge while writing and directing the movie, Mehta said, “Writing was not that difficult as this genre is very very dear to me and I was extremely excited while writing. But I faced real challenges while shooting the film because I shot the 40 minutes film in one day. So, I shot the entire film in 12 hours.”
She added, “All my actors are not new and they are experienced actors. I couldn’t extend my shoot to another day. I have faced absolutely every kind of trouble and yet managed to make the film because my team was fantastic, supportive and amazing.”
