Shahid Kapoor will soon make his digital debut with Amazon Prime Video series Sunny. It also has Vijay Sethupathi. It is to be directed by The Family Man director duo Raj and DK. It is Vijay’s debut as well in the digital space. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Shahid Kapoor asked for a whopping amount for the entire season and in his contract, it is mentioned that he gets a hike if the show gets renewed for another season. Though Vijay has not put any such clause he has asked for Rs. 55 crores. He has not mentioned a hike in the contract if Sunny is renewed for the second season.
A source told the portal, “Shahid asked for a hefty Rs. 40 crores plus for the whole season. The plan is to make it into three seasons as of now. Vijay, on the other hand, has not put a clause like that but straight away asked for a sum of around Rs. 55 crores. Both of them have roles that are on equal footing but Vijay is undoubtedly a mega star from South and the makers agreed on the deal.”
The source also said that owing to the success of The Family Man, the company believed in Raj and DK when they brought this show to the table and “suggested a huge budget because of the two stars they were planning to get and Amazon agreed.”
Vijay and Shahid will soon begin shooting for their web series.
According to a report by Desi Martini, Vijay Sethupathi is going to play the antagonist in the series. Raashi Khanna is taken on board to play the female lead.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Kabir Singh that was a huge box-office hit. He recently wrapped up the shoot of his upcoming sports drama Jersey. It is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu film of the same name. Vijay Sethupathi’s recent release Master took the box-office by storm.
