Jaideep Ahlawat REACTS to rumours of him charging Rs 20 crore for Paatal Lok 2; says, “Itna tha toh mujhe…”

Jaideep Ahlawat has returned to his iconic role of Inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary with Paatal Lok 2, which premiered last month on Amazon Prime Video. The series, especially its first season, propelled Ahlawat to nationwide fame, and now he shares insights about his journey and the myths surrounding his rise in stature.

Amid the buzz surrounding Paatal Lok 2, rumours circulated that Jaideep had significantly increased his fees for the new season. Reports claimed he charged Rs 40 lakh for season 1 and raised it to Rs 20 crore for season 2.

When asked about this, Jaideep laughed and responded, “Arre yaar itna tha toh mujhe bata toh dete. Main kuch kar leta iss paise ka. Hai kahan ye paisa, gaya kahan?” (If it was that much, they should have at least told me. I would have done something with the money. Where is this money? Where did it go?)

Jaideep’s journey in acting began two decades ago when he joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Recently, a viral photo resurfaced from his FTII days, featuring him alongside classmates Vijay Varma, Sunny Hinduja, Rajkummar Rao, and Prabhat. He reminisced, “This picture is from 2007. And I am sure everyone had their own journey much before that. It is 20 years since we all joined the institute. That was in 2005.”

He also mentioned that he remains in contact with his batchmates, stating, “We are still the same, talking nonsense. We have less face-to-face time now, but we stay connected through phone and messages. Whenever we meet, we revert to our student zone again.”

Jaideep’s recent projects

Paatal Lok 2 features a strong supporting cast, including Ishwak Singh, Tilottama Shome, and Prashant Tamang, and is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Looking ahead, Jaideep will appear in Jewel Thief, a Netflix film where he stars alongside Saif Ali Khan.
