Yesterday, reports went viral about actress Noor Malabika Das’ demise and police finding her decomposed body in her apartment. The actress – who was last seen in the Kajol-led web series The Trail, allegedly died by suicide in her flat in Lokhandwala on June 6. Her family has now interacted with the media from their family home in Karimganj, Assam.
Noor Malabika Das suffered from depression
As per a report by The Times of India, Noor Malabika Das – who hailed from Assam’s Karimganj, was suffering from depression. Her paternal aunt, Arati Das, interacted with the media from their family home in Karimganj. Talking about ‘The Trial’ actress, she said, “She went to Mumbai with big hopes to become an actress. However, she was fighting hard to achieve this. We understand that Malabika was unsatisfied with her achievements that forced her to take this extreme step.”
Malabika’s death
As reported by Mid-Day, Noor reportedly hanged herself from her bedroom fan. According to police sources, the incident came to light when Noor’s neighbours reported a foul smell coming from her flat. This led to them calling the Oshiwara police, who upon breaking and entering, found the actress’ body hanging from the ceiling fan in a decomposed condition. The police collected medicines, her mobile phone and a diary during the search of her house.
After conducting a panchnama, Noor Malabika Das’ body was taken to Goregaon’s Siddharth Hospital for a post-mortem. Her final rites were performed on Sunday with the assistance of the Mamdani Health and Education Trust NGO after failed attempts to contact her family, no one came forward.
Noor Malabika Das has appeared in several films and web shows such as Siskiyaan, Walkaman, Teekhi Chatni, Jaghanya Upaya, Charamsukh, Dekhi Andekhi and Backrod Hustle. She was also seen in Amazon Prime’s The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha featuring Kajol and Jisshu Sengupta.
