After years of being apart, Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover are all set to share the stage again in Netflix’s soon-to-release show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. For those who have forgotten, an altercation took place between Kapil and Sunil while The Kapil Sharma team was travelling together on a flight back from Australia in 2017. This incident led to Grover exiting TKSS and starting a show of his own that followed a similar pattern.
On Tuesday, the comedians interacted with the media on the sets of their upcoming Netflix show and the ‘Baaghi’ actor joked that their 7-year-long public spat – that grabbed the public eye, was just a publicity stunt. Scroll below to know what he said.
Sunil Grover jokes about his public fight
During the interaction, Sunil jokingly told the media that their 2017 fight – which took place when streaming platforms were entering India, was for the benefit of the TV audience. An entertainment portal noted Grover saying, “Us time pe Netflix India mein naya naya aaya tha toh humko laga ki television ki audience ko baandh ke rakhne ke liye kuch karna padega (Netflix had just entered in India back then. So, Kapil and I thought that we gotta do something to hold our television audience”.
He continued, “That’s how we came up with that idea of a fight as a publicity stunt.”
