Amitabh Bachchan gets Padma Vibhushan

Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently received his Padma Vibhushan award from the President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi. The ‘Shamitabh’ actor was seen dressed in a black bandhgala. His family members from son Abhishek Bachchan to daughter in law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, were there in strength to lend support on this historic occasion.

The awards were announced on the eve of this year’s Republic Day. The president conferred the awards not only to Amitabh but also on the thespian Dilip Kumar too. The other eminent celebrities who were conferred award Malur Ramaswamy Srinivasan for his work in science and engineering and jurist KK Venugopal for public affairs.

Apart from Padma Vibhushan, the president conferred awards in other categories of Padma awards, namely Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Filmmaker Jahnu Barua got Padma Bhushan. The awards ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many other Union ministers too.
