kangana ranaut, sonu sood, swara bhasker, kangana ranaut and sonu sood rift

The rift between Kangana Ranaut and Sonu Sood began during the making of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Sonu exited the project after Kangana replaced director Krish Jagarlamudi midway through the shoot. Following his departure, Kangana accused Sonu of being unwilling to work under a female director, a claim Sonu dismissed as ‘nadaani’ (silliness).

Recently, Kangana revisited the controversy during an appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube podcast. She reflected on her fallout with Sonu, saying, “It’s not important that we become friends with everyone we meet. You only make so many friends. Those who are upset with me should stay upset with me.”

Sonu, on the other hand, has refrained from directly addressing Kangana’s accusations. Speaking in an earlier interview, he admitted that he and Kangana have not been on speaking terms since Manikarnika. “People can say whatever they want, but I will never say anything against them,” Sonu said. “I might feel upset thinking, ‘This person was a good friend and said such things.’ I feel that it’s her foolishness; she is not a bad person. But sometimes, when you write or say things, you don’t actually think it through. We have never even spoken to each other after Manikarnika.”

During her podcast appearance, Kangana was asked if she could work with individuals whose ideologies differ from hers. Confidently, she replied, “Of course. What type of question is this? So many actors I have worked with come from different ideologies.” Kangana elaborated, “Even if I don’t like a person, I can work with them because I am not the authority on that person’s character. I can’t pass judgment on them.”

When specifically questioned about working with her Tanu Weds Manu co-star Swara Bhasker again, Kangana affirmed, “Of course we can work together. Back then, too, her ideology was different.” She further explained, “Woh hamesha communism aur socialism ko leke uske ideas set pe bhi chalte the (She would talk about communism and socialism on set too). I have never formed a perception about an actor or any person based on their interviews. This privilege is with leftists, not with us.”

Kangana’s statements highlight her willingness to separate professional collaborations from personal differences, emphasising that ideological disagreements don’t necessarily hinder her ability to work with others.
