Oops! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s fashion game stumbles a bit in black Sabyasachi saree

Before you start pointing fingers at us, let’s clarify this once and for all! No doubt the woman is gorgeous. Whether she’s taking her evening stroll down the Juhu lane or turns up at a family puja sans makeup, there’s no escaping her breathtaking good looks. But here’s the dilemma. Aishwarya cast a spell on us with her cosmic appearances at Cannes and it still doesn’t seem to wear off. She’s set the fashion bar so high that it’s hard to take her off the pedestal so soon.

At the premiere of ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’, she kinda baffled us with her choice of shimmery saree–we didn’t quite see this coming. Though the outfit has the prestigious label of Sabyasachi, we’ve come across such blingy sarees at those not-so-fancy local market sales that sell stuff at 500 bucks flat (we are not even kiddin’). Draped in a sequin, black saree, we’re not sure if someone even in the ’90s would’ve liked this outfit! The saree wasn’t anything extravagant and even the hairdo didn’t come to her rescue. We wish she would have swapped the loose waves for something more striking like a messy side braid or a French bun.

What we loved? The sans accessories look with just a statement diamond ring ( it worked as the ensemble was flashy anyways). She stuck to the minimalist vibe and opted for a thick, winged eyeliner and bright red lips. Her look was styled by Anisha Jain.

Phew! It’s just unnerving to see Aish, who indeed stopped traffic with her jaw-dropping ensembles last week, turning up in a saree like that.
