Salman Khan‘s appointment as the brand ambassador to the Indian contingent at the Rio Olympics has brought in mixed reactions. If Bollywood is rejoicing then most of the sportsmen are criticising the decision. The debate has taken the nation by storm with many for it and many against the decision of the authorities.
Recently at the grand launch of ‘India’s Got Talent’, the three judges – fiery lady Kirron Kher, the jovial Karan Johar and the sizzling Malaika Arora Khan – were interacting with the media. When the judges were asked their take on Salman’s appointment, the very vocal Kirron Kher lashed out at the critics. She said, “I feel Indian sportsmen need to be a little more large-hearted. When we opt for a Salman Khan, we get in more corporate houses. If he can do that it will be great for our sportsmen. Someone said that filmstars don’t live in reality. I beg to differ. An actor works for 12-15 hours a day. People in production often don’t get time to sleep for three-four days at a stretch. To entertain is the hardest thing in the world. People should respect Salman Khan for his achievements.”
Karan Johar also echoed similar sentiments. He said, “Salman Khan is a humongous achiever. More power to him and the Indian Olympic Association that has chosen him.” Malaika on her part said that sports was close to her heart and Salman Khan’s presence will bring in good results.
