Today the final verdict came out and Sooraj Pancholi was found not guilty. “Due to paucity of evidence, this court can’t hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, hence acquitted,” Judge AS Sayyed of the special CBI court in Mumbai stated.
Actress Jiah Khan committed suicide in 2013 and it put the nation in shock. It was reported that Jiah hung herself at her Juhu apartment on June 3, 2013.
After her untimely death, her boyfriend, Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi was accused of abetment to suicide.
With the biggest evidence, the Juhu police arrested him and booked him under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On June 21, 2013, Sooraj’s bail plea was rejected by the court. However, he was granted bail on July 1, signing a bond of Rs 50,000. On July 2, the court acquitted Sooraj, stating he was not accountable for Jiah Khan’s suicide.
In October, Rabia then pleaded to the court for a detailed investigation of the case. A year after Jiah’s death, the High Court transferred the case from Juhu police to the Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI).
On December 9, 2015, CBI filed a chargesheet against Sooraj Pancholi, alleging abetment to suicide. However, on August 1 2016, the officials ruled stated she died by suicide.
In October 2017, Sooraj Pancholi filed a plea at the Bombay High Court, requesting an expedition in the trial proceedings. However, in January 2018, CBI rejected the plea
After court accused him of abetment to suicide, the actor denied charges and pleaded innocence. On January 30, 2018, he demanded innocence.
